Switch to a New Mobile Device
Say you've replaced your mobile device and want to continue working with Fordefi. Restore your device by pairing it with your Fordefi account.
Start by logging in from your new mobile device to the Fordefi mobile app. Then choose from the list the account you wish to restore to the new device, or (it is not listed) click Add account.
Once you are logged in, the following notification is typically displayed:
Each user can only have one active device at a time. When you switch devices, the old device becomes inactive.
Choose one of the options:
- Perform restore device from backup, on your own, without assistance from an admin. Continue with the instructions below.
- Request an admin in your workspace to reset your device and provide you with a reset code. The admin should follow the instructions in Reset a User's Device. Once the admin has completed their part, come back here to complete it in Following admin reset.
Restore from backup
Based on the backup type you choose during backup, you are automatically taken to the right type of recovery flow: Cloud Backup or Mnemonic Phrase.
Follow the on-screen instructions until your device has been restored for the current organization.
The notification: "Recover organization from device backup completed successfully" indicates success.
(Optional) Choose Restore other orgs
After a successful recovery of the chosen organization, if you still have organizations that are also backed up but active on another device, you will be prompted to restore all their other organizations, as well. If you choose so, Fordefi recovers all other organizations without needing to input the recovery phrase, or choose a cloud account again.
Following admin reset
In case you opted for an admin to perform restore, the admin performs the reset instructions in Reset a User's Device. Now, follow up with these steps:
When you are notified of the reset code, log in to the Fordefi mobile app again. You should see the next screen:
Click Enter Code, and then paste the code you received in the next screen:
Fordefi regenerates user keys. Do not close the app while this is happening.
When the process is complete, you see this screen:
