# AML Rule Conditions and Actions

This section describes the conditions that you can set for any single [AML rule you create](/user-guide/aml/create-an-aml-policy-rule) while building a policy.

When you create a rule, first set the rule's **Action** to be taken if all the conditions of the rule are met. There are three action options:

- Allow a transaction.
- Skip the scan of a transaction.
- Require approval for a transaction.

Then, add any of the following conditions:

## Severity

*Severity* indicates the level of risk associated with the transaction, according to the selected provider. Options are Any,Low, Medium, and High.

## Category

*Category* is the risk category as defined by the AML provider, for example: Gambling, Fraud and others.

## Exposure Type

*Exposure Type* options are Any, Direct, or Indirect exposure. For example, a direct exposure is when a transaction directly interacts with a risky entity; indirect exposure is when the connection is one or more steps removed.

## Initiator

The *Initiator* condition lets admins select which user or group of users will be part of the rule. A user can appear both as an individual and as part of a group.

## Origin

The *Origin* condition lets admins select which vaults or group of vaults will be part of the rule.

## Recipient

The *Destination/Recipient* condition lets admins set rules on the destination or recipient of the transaction. The recipient of a transfer is the address that receives the funds of the transfer.

## Transaction amount

The *Transaction Amount* condition lets admins specify a maximal amount in USD for the transaction to be matched in a particular rule.
