# Work with Exchange Sub-accounts

Fordefi lets you manage exchange sub-accounts to streamline asset management and fund movements between Fordefi vaults and those sub-accounts. You can initiate fund transfers between Fordefi and exchange sub-accounts, view the hierarchical structure of exchange accounts (master account → sub-accounts), and apply policy and permission controls across this structure.

Note that each sub-account is treated as an independent vault with its own balance and credentials; no balance aggregation is performed.

## Limitations

## Create a sub-account

You create sub-accounts in the Fordefi web console from within an existing exchange vault.

1. To open the exchange vault to which you wish to add sub-accounts, click **Connected Accounts** > **Exchanges** and choose the vault from the list that is displayed.

2. At the top right, click **Actions** > **Add sub account**.
A dialog displays the existing sub-accounts in the exchange vault.

3. Click **Add** for each sub-account you wish to add.
A field opens for it. Leave the name as-is, or rename it, as needed.

4. Click **Save** to add the selected sub-accounts to the master exchange.
