# Configure Your Exchange Account for Fordefi

To connect your exchange account to Fordefi, follow these steps:

1. Generate an API key:

2. Give your new API key a unique name. For example: `Fordefi`.
3. After confirming the API key’s validity, copy both the API key and secret key. You will need these later when [adding the exchange to your Fordefi vaults](/user-guide/exchanges/create-exchange).
4. Make sure the following permissions are checked:
  - Read
  - Withdraw
Trade permissions are not required.
5. Configure trusted IP access restrictions:
  - Remove the default `0.0.0.0` entry.
  - Add the following trusted IP addresses:
